Community Photography Show
The New Haven Parks and Recreation Community Photography show encourages local photographers to explore their creativity and express themselves through their work. The annual event held every March and is open to Allen and adjacent county residents. The show is not juried and we encourage photographers to enter up to 3 pieces of their original work into the show. The show is judged and awards are given. An opening reception is held to kick off this fun community event.
Every Spring New Haven Parks and Recreation holds the Spring Spruce up Event throughout our parks. This is an opportunity for volunteers to help clean up the parks and ready them for summer fun. This event is typically held the 2nd Saturday of April. The group meets at Schnelker Park to organize and then disperses to the various parks to help pick up trash, leaves and limbs leftover from winter.
Veterans Memorial Ride
The New Haven Veterans’ Memorial Motorcycle Ride is an annual event scheduled every May. The event kicks off at the American Legion Post 330 and benefits the Schnelker Veterans’ Memorial Park. There is an opening ceremony, salute to our military by the Legion Honor Guard, singing of the National Anthem, and a 45 mile motorcycle ride. There is food, entertainment and vendors before and after the event.
This event is held every June in Schnelker park is a great way to enjoy a picnic lunch outdoor with friends in the park. The lunch is held at 11:30am on the Friday of Canal Days. There is no cost to participate.
This event is held the Saturday of Canal Days in Schnelker park after the Parade. There are free, fun, games and crafts geared for little children. Meet us at the pavilion for a great afternoon in the park!
4 Wellness Running Series
This is a 4 running event series which was formed to encourage an active, healthy lifestyle and offer something for all ages and abilities. These events are a collaboration between the Parks and Recreation Department, the New Haven Cross Country/Track & Field teams and Well Strategies, a local wellness non-profit. These events are in partnership with the Fort for Fitness and is sponsored by Lutheran Redimed, 3Rivers Running Co., and Indiana Physical Therapy.

New Haven Farmers Market
Local vendors gather to sell fresh produce, baked goods, crafts and artisan items like soap, honey, maple syrup and more. The event features live music every week and a great atmosphere for relaxing, playing outside and shopping. The market is held downtown New Haven in Schnelker Park and runs the third week of June and through the 3rd week of September.
These events are held the second Sunday of July, August, and September and feature the New Haven Alumni Band. The band begins playing at 3:00pm and refreshments are served. The event is held in Schnelker Park and is free for all to attend.
Community Art Show
The New Haven Parks and Recreation Community Art show encourages local artists to explore their creativity and express themselves through their work. The annual event held every November and is open to Allen and adjacent county residents. The show is not juried and we encourage artists to enter up to 3 pieces of their original work into the show. The show is judged and awards are given. An opening reception is held to kick off this fun community event.
Trees help with environmental pollution, provide shade, increase property values and add to the beauty of a community. Local parks have lost half of their tree canopy due to weather, disease, and parasites over the past 50 years. This is your invitation to help us combat this critical loss of trees. We are in need of volunteers and business to help sponsor and plant trees for the parks. Your help would be a lasting gift to the community.
New Haven Farm to Fork Festival
This festival is a fun opportunity to promote local produce and meat producers that support the New Haven area. There will food sampling, live music and animal petting. We will have several featured chefs. We will also showcase local businesses and downtown New Haven. The Farm to Fork festival provides an enjoyable experience, a source of healthy local food options, and a strong contribution to the social and economic vitality of our town and surrounding agricultural communities. Come out visit your neighbor, enjoy this festival of fresh food and shop local! This event is held in conjunction with the New Haven Farmers Market.
Pancake Breakfast with Santa
New Haven Parks and Recreation and the Masonic Lodge partner every year to put on the Pancake Breakfast with Santa. This event is a great way to visit your favorite Christmas elf, have breakfast and help the parks!
Senior Carry-in Lunches
These events take place on the third Wednesday of the month and are opportunity for the seniors in the community to come together for a meal, meet new friends or spend time with old friends, enjoy an afternoon of cards, or play bingo. The lunches are sponsored by a different business every month and the New Haven Parks and Recreation Department.
